Early intervention has been proven to produce better outcomes for children with autism and their families.  The Early Intervention Services at the Scott Center will teach new skills, improve your child’s behavior, and address areas of difficulty.  This will also give the family introduction to the additional resources available and information that will assist in the daily care for the child.

This outpatient service at the Scott Center is provided for children, ages two to eight years, for three to six hours daily, Monday to Friday. A minimum of 12 hours per week of services is required to enroll in this program and the typical length of treatment is one to three years.

What To Expect:

An initial assessment is conducted to evaluate the child's current strengths and weaknesses. Both standardized testing and criterion assessments will be conducted, as needed, and reviewed with the family. Following the initial assessment, one-to-one treatment services are provided using a blend of discrete trial and naturalistic teaching strategies.  The focus of intensive services is to ensure each child meets communication and related goals needed to participate in the least restrictive educational environment, as possible.  Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) will be incorporated into the intervention, as needed.
